Martin Jannink's (1933-2012) paintings and watercolors are such as remarkables as rares. One can estimate his production at about 200 works. François Michaud, curator at Paris Museum of Modern Art, chose some belonging to friends and collectors. Martin's painting is figurative, both romantic and expressionist, full of melancholia, out of present time, with a delicate and disturbing strongness. Of Dutch origins, he lived in France where he received a middle-class education but any artistic training. In 1956, at the age of 23, he heard the Hungarian student's calling and went to Budapest during the Revolution. A thrilling experience! He practised many jobs and led a modest and bohemian lifestyle, his life undeniably spread through his artistic temperament.
