L’artiste Joan Rabascall fait partie d’une génération qui a vu arriver le petit écran dans les foyers et a mesuré les bouleversements de cette nouvelle fenêtre ouverte sur le monde. My Collection présente les œuvres qu’il a réalisées dans de mini-téléviseurs en plastique. Il y parodie avec tendresse et humour le kitsch des séries télévisuelles. Les photographies, hautes en couleurs, sont l’occasion d’une promenade ludique dans les icônes de la culture populaire du XXe siècle. Y défilent notamment La Joconde, Barbie, Betty Boop, la Panthère rose, ou Janis Joplin : autant de figures qui ont nourri notre imaginaire collectif et que Joan Rabascall ressuscite pour notre plus grand plaisir ! L’artiste a exposé, entre autres, au Centre Pompidou, à Paris, et au Metropolitan Museum. Ses photos sont accompagnées par un texte de Masashi Ogura, évoquant l’arrivée du petit écran dans les foyers et la place déterminante qu’il a prise dans la culture japonaise.
Aux éditions Jannink, Rabascall est également l'auteur de Paisatge — TV dans la collection L'art en écrit et d'une estampe dans la collection Naked.

Joan Rabascall belongs to a generation of artists who witnessed the arrival of the television screen in our homes and was able to measure the overwhelming novelty of this opening upon the world. My Collection presents the works he composed inside miniature plastic televisions. With humour and tenderness, he parodies tacky soap operas. Higly coloured photographies takes us along a playful walk accross XXth century popular culture. Figures like the Mona Lisa, Barbie, Betty Boop, the Pink Panther, or Janis Joplin, all of which are an inherent part of the collective imagination, are revived by Joan Rabascall for our greatest pleasure ! The artist has exhibited at the Pompidou Center in Paris and at the Metropolitan Museum, amongst others. A text by Masashi Ogura accompanies his photos and recalls the arrival of the television and the decisive place it took within the Japanese culture.
